Hilda “Ma” Tilda is a lonely granny who dreams of having a puppy. Many twists and turns, actions and reactions, on her way to the pet store and back home again, leads her to finding Ed and Edna.

In the second book, Hilda “Ma” Tilda is enjoying the love of two pups. She feels the need for another pet. This time it’s a kitty and through her adventures, she finds Olive and even more.

In the third book, Hilda “Ma” Tilda dreams of having a parrot, a pet that can talk.

Her young friends on the street enjoy Hilda “Ma” Tilda’s company. They find her funny and understand that she has trouble seeing when she loses her eyeglasses. She is always misplacing her glasses. Two of the boys, Danny and Steve, help her find the pets she loves.

The lonely granny gets her wishes. The children help her along the way to finding animals that she can love. The books teach a lesson about caring and friendship. The pictures are beautiful and clearly match the words in each story. The Hilda “Ma” Tilda series is an effective way to read to your children and to teach them to read.
